Dr Rachel Hooks

Dr Rachel Hooks completed her thesis and clinical training at Massey University.

Rachel has a very collaborative approach to both assessment and treatment which draws on neuroscience-informed models and includes elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, and solution-focused and psycho-dynamic approaches.

She is dedicated to helping her clients achieve long-term psychological wellbeing.

Prior to training as a psychologist, Rachel worked as an Occupational Therapist in New Zealand, and has lived and worked in Germany, Malaysia, and Scotland with her husband and family for eleven years before returning to New Zealand in 2012.

She now lives in New Plymouth with her family, labradoodle, and cat.
